Revoltech Roy Fokker's VF-1S Strike Valkyrie

I love Robotech/Macross. I love VF-1 Valkyries. I love Revoltech. So why shouldn't I love this Revoltech Macross VF-1 Valkyrie?

Revoltech VF-1S

This thing is pure plastic joy. And it comes with just about anything you could want for a VF-1, including its very own little Revoltech-y FAST pack. The only shortcoming is that it doesn't transform, but that's not what Revoltech figures are about in the first place. If you want a cool transforming Valkyrie that won't set you back 90 bucks, check out Toynami's offerings. If you want a Valkyrie figure that will get into just about any iconic Robotech pose you can think of, this one is for you.

Revoltech VF-1S Armor

Revoltech has yet to disappoint me. Sure, I have to whip out the Dremel every now and then to get every joint perfect, but that's a minor quibble when the figures are so much fun to play with. I spent about an hour just putting my VF-1 into any pose I could think of and I only quit because my wife and kids were giving me funny looks. This may just replace my Toynami Valk as my favorite Robotech toy.

Wow! Could they have made those shoulder joints any less bally? It's still way better than the non-transforming 15th anniversary battroids I bought back in the late 90's. I think Sega made those. They were awful.

I think the shoulders are going to need a little work with the Dremel so I can get the shoulders a little more flush. I think you just have to accept those joints as part of the Revoltech aesthetic. After all, Megatron has big bally shoulders, and he's the Omega Supreme of G1 Megatron figures.

I feel a bit cheated because the publicity photos I've seen really did a good job of hiding the ballsyness of the shoulders. Heck, they even go so far as to color them black in the shots where they're noticeable. I'm glad I saw your pictures, that way I won't be all shocked when I see the VF-1S's balls in real life.

Now that you've pointed it out, it DOES look like they purposefully hid his shoulder joints. Those aren't just publicity photos, those are the same photos that are on the package. Oh, well, the nards don't detract from the figure, IMO. Still my favorite Valkyrie figure.

I've got a mix of different valkyries in my posession, and I have to say that the Revoltech battroids look much more posable than all but the transformable VF-1S I bought from the Robotech page. Very nice review, you helped me make up my mind about my next toy purchase.
